Pitch that persuades

The aim of this activity is to provide the learners with the methods and tools so they can effectively
communicate and convince about the feasibility of creating a pattern-breaking social change.
In this activity the learners will have to complete a Social Enterprise Pitch Deck, an overview,
defining the approach and what one must get right early on to succeed. To do that, trainers
and/or facilitators must cover the following steps:
Step 1
Introduce the multiple perspectives of a Pitch Deck: (i) creating a road map for social
entrepreneur; (ii) identifying gaps for consultants; and (iii) telling story in a compelling way to
potential investors. Storytelling is the purpose of preparing this pitch.
Implementation Divide the participants into groups of maximum 5 in a group and assign each group with the task

of preparing a pitch for their social innovation business. Identify a social cause or a market gap
and come up with a product/service to address it! Critically review your proposed solution using
the questions provided in the Tool 2 – Social Enterprise Pitch Deck.
Step 3
Ensure that your Pitch covers the key areas that “Define your approach” and “What you have to
get right early on” to ensure the success of your product/service.
Each group will prepare a Pitch Deck for telling story in a compelling way to potential investors.
Step 4
Use the reflection questions to ensure that you fill in any missing information for convincingly
presenting your Pitch to potential investors. Each group will present their Pitch Deck.
Step 5
The trainer/facilitator will debrief the session by giving feedback to the participants’ contributions
and provide tips to improve the Social Enterprise Pitch Deck.
